Reminder
This coming Saturday (4th of April 2009), is the First Class Hike 1 for the entire unit to participate. It will also be the Patrol Exploration Challenge, which will be included in the Top Patrol Challenge Shield Scoring System.

Currently, the score that is being added will be the Job Week Challenge score.

Remember, your patrol membership also plays an important role in the Top Patrol Challenge Shield. So do encourage everyone to play a part in making your patrol the Top Patrol in White Stag.

Here are some information on the First Class Hike for some of you. The hike will be a 2 days 1 night hike that will involve map reading, orienteering and navigation skills. The location will only be known on the day itself (in Singapore only) and each patrol will be going out on its own to find all the checkpoints and fulfill the tasks given.

Should you have any questions on the packing list and what to bring and what not to bring, do contact your PLs about it. If your PLs do not know, they will contact me to ask about it.

Activity for the month of Apr and May
The coming activities line up by your PLC are going to be knotting and pioneering based. This is one component that you got to learn as a Scout.

For those who wants to submit their logbooks for marking, do so on the following meeting, after the First Class Hike. This is especially so for the Knowledge of the Scout Movement assignment as well as the other remaining assignments to complete.

A hint for the Advance Scout Standard participants, you can proceed to do your Outdoor Precautions during the hike and include the notes in the logbook.

For the Scout Standard participants, you can proceed to do your National Flag, Pledge and Anthem as well as the Knowledge of the Scout Movement in your logbook.

What's a logbook? ... better start asking your PLs as I will only mark your assignments based on your logbook and not scraps of paper. This logbook will be useful to you in the future as notes.

Should you have an enquires on your standards or proficiency badges, do contact your PLs.

There will be a Cyclist and First Aid Proficiency Course coming up. Do pass your names to your PLs as soon as possible, as there are only limited spaces.

For the Cyclist Proficiency Badge - anyone can join in.

For the First Aid Proficiency Course - only available for Secondary 2s and above.

Knowledge of the Scout Movement Assisgnment

Just for those who have been asking ...
For the Advance Scout Standard,
For the First Class Scout Standard, this assignment includes about half of the World Friendship Proficiency Badge. To complete the other half, please refer to your Progressive Scheme that I handed out before.
The key to passing your Progressive Badges as soon as possible is to be discipline to complete the assignment given.
There will not be much pushing if you do not wish to complete your Progressive Badges, and let alone completing as much Proficiency Badges.
Once done, pass it to your PL. And the PLs will, in turn, pass it to me for marking. Do your best if you do not want to re-do again.
Do or do not... there is not try, but just doing your best that you can be.
For more information, or clarification, do approach your PLs.
Happy Scouting
