Hey White Stags,

due to the recent H1N1 (a.k.a Swine Flu), scout meetings will be put on hold for the moment, until when the school decided to continue CCA. So, let's try some e-learning experience so that those who comes online can inform others to do so too.

Here are some advise for those who are unknown to the Swine Flu, and as scouts, we should read the current news more often.

1. Temperature taking - try taking your temperature at least 3 times a day and if your temperature is 37.5 degrees and above, please go and see a doctor immediately or call 993.

2. Avoiding hot spots - knowing that youths like going to crowded places, at the moment try to avoid due to the high possibility of human to human transmission.

3. Drinking lots of water - Soft drinks are a favourite, including myself, but drinking water is the best to clear your body system and keep your body healthy.

4. Eat healthy - Fruits and veggies are a must to have daily, so that your body can have the vitamins to protect against flu and other illness.

Enough health talk... here comes the more important part of your progressive scheme. Here are some advise to do up your logbook, if you do not know how to start.

On the start, you can get an exercise book, either A4 or A5 or begin. You can do up some design on the front page and stuff to make it personalise.

What you have to include in the logbook is...

1. Content page

2. Introduction to self and your aims/ goals in scouting

3. Your assignments/ experiences

4. Your suggestions and thoughts.

Here are some samples for the following items.

So start doing up your logbook and should you have any questions, feel free to ask any of the leaders what to include and what to do about it.

Make it something memorable and personal for your own keeping... This is your Scouting Journey... make it worthwhile!

Dear White Stags,

It's been a while since I update the blog, from now on the Patrol Leaders will be updating the blog and not let it grow weeds or cobwebs around. Wombat has departure to his beloved new home in Pulau Tekong, soon it will be my turn. Here are some updates before I do.

June Training Camp
For those who have attended, congratulations in surviving JTC. I hope you learn some values during the camp and complete as much requirement for your standards. Here are the results for the Patrol Challenge Competition.

Patrol Leaders, please read and see where your patrol is weak in and train them to the standard that during the next JTC, your patrol will be the top. Current champion for JTC is Tiger Patrol. Congratulations.
For those who are pursing your standards, here's an update on what you have been doing.

Lion Patrol

Eagle Patrol

Tiger Patrol

Kingfisher Patrol

For those, who didn't attend the camp, I would expect a letter of explanation, whether it is due to school or family commitment or if you are sick, an MC. Failure to do so, would render a non-commitment in your CCA activity and NO CCA points will be given this year.

For those, who would like to complete your standards ASAP, please arrange with the leaders or rovers to showcase your items and that they will inform me to update on your progress.

Should you have any enquires on how to do your standard, you can refer to the White Stag Progressive Scheme or the leaders. Do standby your logbook, as the leaders will refer on it.

First Aid Course
This is a complusary course for those who are pursuing your Advance Scout Standard and First Class Scout Standard. Failure to attend, would cause you the full payment sum of the amount of the course.

Donation Draw 2009
Donation Draw booklets have been given out to the respective patrols. This year around, there is a little twist to the DD Challenge. It will be in patrol system. Do refer to the notice board for any updates.

Once you have completed selling, you can return to your Patrol Leaders and request for more booklets to sell. Remember, the money earn is to pay for your expenses in camps and for courses.

ICCS 2009
This is an annual district activity for those who are interested. Your Patrol Leaders and seniors would have participated in this activity. If you are interested, do submit the names to your PLs by 20th June 2009
Hougang Rangers Campfire
There is a campfire invitation by our friendly allies, Hougang Rangers on the 27th of June 2009.
All members, please take note of the event and those who are attending to inform me by 10th of June 2009. Patrol Leaders, do encourage your members to attend this campfire as you will be representing our unit.
National Day Parade 2009
There are opening slots for those who are interested to participate in the National Day Parade Scout Contingent. For those who are interested, do let Gibbon or Mr Ralph know by this coming weekend.
I would like to thank you all for your hardwork for the past 6 months. Scouting is a never-ending journey once you are invested as a scout. I would like to see the unit continue to progress to greater heights as I will continue to monitor the PLs and your patrols.
And a side note, following from this camp... the Leaders are putting attendance as priority. All the following activities are complusary, unless mentioned by the teachers or me.
1. Unit Meetings
2. Camps
3. Campfires
4. Courses
5. District Activities
6. National Activities
If you are having tuition, do let your parents know about your scouting activities and re-arrange to a more suitable date or time. No more excuses of such will be accepted as prior warning is given, persistance to turn up for any of the following will result in getting NO CCA Points as well as a coffee session with the Principal, Teachers and me!
