Greetings White Stags,

Some information for your guys when you are to return for lots of Scouting activities again. This half of the year, there will be lots of internal and external activities for you to participate.

Upcoming activities:
1. First Aid Course with Red Cross Association
This is a second reminder for the First Aid Course coming up for the unit.

This is for the Advance Scout Standard and First Class Scout Standard, who have not cleared their First Aid (2) of their progressive scheme.

Date: 18 to 20 of June 2009.
Location: Siglap Secondary School

This will be a first-come-first-serve basis. So whoever is interested to go, please let your PLs know and PLs are to submit the name list to me by 2nd of May 2009.

There are only limited slots of up to 24 places. For those who missed this time round of the First Aid Course, he have to go directly to the Red Cross Association to take the course.

This is an important criteria for the progressive scheme. For those who passed this course will be awarded the First Aid Proficiency Badges as well as passing the First Aid (2) and (3) of your progressive scheme.

2. International Coastal Cleanup Singapore (ICCS) Tampines 2009
This is an annual event in Tampines District to help save the environment by doing beach cleanups. You can do your part in participating in the event.

Date: 19th of Sept 2009
Location: Pasir Ris Beach
Fee: $8.00

The closing date for application will be on the 4th of July 2009. However, due to the limited spaces for the project, PLs to submit the application by end of May 2009.

Whoever who takes part in this event, is being counted as representing their patrol for District activity and there will be points awarded for the Patrol Challenge.

3. June Training Camp 2009'
The June Training Camp is set and going! This year, it will be a little special whereby the PLs will be running the camp. For those who have not experience National Patrol Camp (NPC) or District Patrol Competition (DPC) before, this time round, you will have a taste of what it is to be like.

So PLs, do prepare your patrols for the June Training Camp on the skills on:

1. Camping Standards
2. Pioneering
3. Exploration
4. Camp Cook
5. First Aid
6. Drills
7. Scout Lore

This training camp will be both a practice ground and a test for your progressive scheme. So do your best and you will be on your way to earn your badges.

Dear White Stags,

The Frank Cooper Sands Award Results for Year 2008 has been released!

Congratulations to the Leaders, Patrol Leaders Council of 2008 and brothers of White Stag in the 2008 period for achieving the Gold Award!

The Gold Award is the highest award in the Frank Cooper Sands Award!

Congratulations to the Venture Crew unit for attaining Bronze Award again! Good Job in sustaining the award!

For this year, it is up to the current Patrol Leaders Council and the members to sustain the award for many more years to come!

Good Job White Stag! And we will be able to wear the Frank Cooper Sands Gold Badge proudly on our uniform!

Hi White Stags,

How's your examination preparations as well as your Scouting Assignments? I hope all are on track with your progressive schemes and academic schedules.

Unit Meetings
I've understand that some of your have been asking about the Unit Meetings.

Unit Meetings will be stopped during this period of examinations to give you guys more focus on your academic.

However, should you have any scouting elements or scheme that you would like to meet up for, do contact your PLs to conduct a patrol meeting for a short period of time.

PLs, just a reminder on the upcoming activity for the Month of May - Knotting and Pioneering.

Hi White Stags,

some interesting events coming up for this Month of April 2009.

Youth Olympics Games (YOG) Out-Reach Programme
There will be an Out-Reach Programme being held by the organizing committee of the YOG this coming Saturday (18 of April 2009).

Location: @ Youth Park
Timings: 1400 to 1900 hrs.

Basically, you can gather each other and go down and take a look on the upcoming YOG information. It's open for public... so it's free admission for all.

Some of your Scouting brothers and sisters will be at the International booth to educate the public of the varies countries and cultural of the countries participating in the YOG. So if you're free, do drop by with your patrol members or even family members!

Thailand's Princess Visitation to Singapore!
Thailand's Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri will be visiting the Marina Barrage on the 26 of April 2009.

There will be a team of NorthEast Area (comprising Tampines and Serangoon District) Scouts assisting in service, to welcome Princess Maha Chakri.

Location: Marina Barrage
Timing: 0815 - 1230 hrs.


There will be media coverage on this, so do look out on the news to spot some of the leaders, rovers, ventures or even scouts on air.

If you are interested in assisting, do let the leaders know by 14 of April 2009. The service team from Tampines District needs about 20 service scouts and will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Oneida Venture Crew Performance at Vivocity
Here is something for you guys to take a look at one of our neighbouring scout family, Oneida Scout Group's ventures performance on the 11 of April 2009.



Other than these, do continue to complete your logbook so that when the scout meeting resumes, you can submit for checking. The key to getting your progressive scheme is independence and effort.

Good luck for your examinations that is coming up. Play hard, Study hard... that's how a White Stag Scout is to be.

Hey White Stags,

The First Class Hike 1 has ended earlier today. I hope it is a good experience for you to know each other better as well as the standard required of you from now on...

Well, this Saturday's meeting will be pushed forward to Wednesday (8th of April 2009), from 4pm to 6pm. This will be the last meeting before the CCA stand-down for your Mid-Year Examinations (that is coming soon!).

There will be a major debrief as well as what to expect for the second half of the year and the submission of the assignments owing.

Activity for the Meeting (8th of April 09)

1600 hrs - Fall in (half-uniform and logbook only - no school uniform, no PT Kit)
1605 hrs - Test for Exploration for Scout Standard and Advance Scout Standard
1700 hrs - Lesson on Camping Standard, Uniform, Standards explanation by Marlin
1730 hrs - PIC/ PLC
1800 hrs - Home Sweet Home.

It is a compulsory for all to attend this meeting. Failure to attend, you have to provide a valid reason for your absence and meet-up with your PLs, respectively, for the information.

Certificates, badges and prizes will be given out during the meeting as well!
