Updates on 22 May 2012

Dear White Stags,


here are some updates regarding the group activities so far as well as what is to come for the next few months.


Scout Section


1. Change in unit meeting schedule.


From here on, there will be a slight change in the way the unit meeting will be run on Friday. The scouts, who attended last meeting, had been brief and will proceed as such.


1445 hrs: Fall in patrol formation and Flag Break


1500 - 1600 hrs: Learning phase


1600 - 1800 hrs: Practical and training phase


1800 - 1830 hrs: Proficiency and any other matters


1830 hrs: Flag lowering and dismissal


Please adhere to the timing so as to allow smooth running of the meeting. Attendance reminder to all scouts once again, disciplinary actions will be taken by the school for failure to notify both the GSLs and PLs. 




Schedule for training will be as follows:


Month of June:


Progressive: Orienteering (6 and 8 figure MGR, Map drawing)
Proficiency: Guide, Navigator, Civics


Month of July:


Progressive: Pioneering (Flagstaff, tower, bridge, gateway)
Proficiency: Photography, Crime Prevention, Pioneering


Month of August:


Progressive: Camp craft (tents, camping gadgets)
Proficiency: Camper 


Month of Sept:


Progressive: First Aid
Proficiency: First Aid


Month of October:


Exam Period


Month of November: 


Unit Camp


2. Badge Presentation.


In the next meeting, 1st June 2012, there will be a badge presentation for the following scouts who have completed their proficiency badges, namely:


a. Camp Cook Proficiency Badge


Benny, Michael and Eugene


b. Cyber Wellness (Open Theme) Proficiency Badge


Kevin, Jasper, Marcus and Yan Jie


Venture Section


1. Venture Survival Camp (18th to 20th May)


Congratulations to Venture Chinchilla for passing the Venture Survival Proficiency for his Venture Scout Standard component. 


Similarly, congratulations to Rover Zesty Seal and Rover Leaping Jackal for completing the Venture Survival Camp.


Rover Section


1. District Rover Round table (15th June 2012)


There will be a District Rover Round table on the 15th of June (Friday) at Tampines East Community Centre, at 2000 hrs. Please be reminded that all Rovers are welcome and strongly encourage to attend the meeting. 


Activities ahead


1. National Crime Prevention Course 2012


The National Crime Prevention Course (NCPC) is open to the Scout and Venture Sections. Those who are interested, please do inform ASL Tree Frog. 


The National Crime Prevention Proficiency Badge is one of the national educational badges that is attainable and will assist you in your progressive scheme. 


2. East Area PLTC 2012


The following participants will be going for the EA PLTC 2012 from 26th to 29th May 2012, at Terror Sea Scout Campsite.


Yan Jie, Marcus and Jing Yuan


Please note the timing to report to camp.

Time start: 26 May 2012 - 0800 hrs reporting time 


Time end: 29 May 2012 - 1730 hrs

3. Cuon Scout Group Gangshow (2 June 2012)


Cuon Scout Group has invited us to attend their gangshow, all interested members, please inform ASL Tree Frog. 


The gangshow will be held in Greenview Secondary School, from 1830 hrs to 2200 hrs. 


4. Donation Draw 2012


The donation draw booklets are with AGSL Hearty Penguin. All members are to collect their booklets from him personally. 


This year, the donation draw distribution is different from the previous years. The member is to indicate the number of booklets that he wants to collect and sell. 


From here on, all funding to members of the units will be peg according to the Job Week and Donation Draw earnings that they have collected for ALL ACTIVITIES. This includes, camps, courses, overseas trip and etc.


5. Training Camp


There will be a unit training camp for all sections in July 2012. This camp will be a progressive and proficiency skills camp that will allow members to progress in their standards as well as to achieve their proficiency badges. 


From here on, all progressive and proficiency skills will be based on the individuals choice and pace.
